Damon Forum

Recently, some of my team members and myself attended the Damon Forum. The Damon Forum is a yearly educational meeting where hundreds of Damon orthodontists and their team members get together to discuss the most modern techniques for treating our patients to achieve the best and most functional smiles possible.

Dr. Dwight Damon, the creator of this amazing braces system kicks off each meeting and teaches us all the new and unique innovations that he and his team are working on. He reviewed the newest brace system called the DQ Damon brace. This brace is smaller than the last bracket system and has a number of upgrades over the last brace in both design and function. We have been using this new and improved DQ brace now and can tell you it is just awesome.

While we were there, we also attended a number of courses dealing with improving the esthetics of our patient’s smiles. I went to a bracket placement course, taught by Dr. Tom Pitts (second to Dr. Damon, the most experienced Damon practitioner in the country). Dr. Pitts taught us a whole new way to place the front teeth brackets to improve the smile and make it appear more broad and beautiful.

We also went to numerous other courses focused on clinical efficiency. Essentially, this is the best treatment methods to treat our patients with fewer visits and ultimately finish our patients faster with the best results possible. Bracket placement, early rubber band use and using a certain wire sequence was highlighted during the seminar, and we have implemented many of these ideas into our office and we are already seeing tremendous results.

The Damon Forum is one of the most interesting and informative lectures of the year. Most of you already know about the advantages of the Damon System such as:
1. Less visits—shorter treatment times
2. No tightening
3. Less discomfort
4. Rarely ever do we need to extract teeth
5. No Headgear
6. Cleaner (less chance of scars and marks)
7. Beautiful, broad smiles (the ultimate advantage)

Since I have begun using the Damon System I have been amazed at the results and the speed of which the system works. I believe this if the most effective system I have ever used, and as always will continue to give my patients the best treatments available.

Are all braces the same?

With the Damon System, we don't just align the teeth. We create beautiful smiles accounting for a patient's face, profile and other factors in anticipating what they will look like in their 40's, 50's and beyond. Damon braces deliver results for a life time.

What are These New Braces Dr. Kaufman Is So Excited About...

Over the years there have not been a lot of new innovations in brace technology that has made me very excited. However, that has all changed. Recently, our office has switched to a new type of brace called the Damon 3 bracket. We are proud to say we are the FIRST office in Rochester exclusively using this system for our patients. This bracket is unbelievable. It has all the benefits we could ask for and finally it is here.

Why would an orthodontist blog?

I am writing this blog to help any of you that have heard that you or a family member requires braces or orthodontic treatment. I am an orthodontist in Rochester, NY and have been practicing for almost 20 years. In that time I have treated over 10 thousand patients and created not only beautiful smiles but happier more confident patients. Throughout these years, I have realized that orthodontic treatment can be overwhelming especially if it is your first time at the orthodontist. So my goal is to try and make sense of some of the more common problems and treatments that we see in our office and answer some of the most common questions that we hear from our patients and parents. I will address things such as early treatment, common malocclusions (bite problems), to extract teeth or not, retainers, and many other orthodontic issues. So keep checking back and hopefully I will be able to give you some extra information to help you make your orthodontic decisions easier.
